I recently purchased a Serpa quick Disconnect kit, to make the transition in and out of the vehicle a bit easier, and to get rid of the "rigged" setup I previously had on my dash.
When I opened the package, I was surprised at the amount of hardware with it, looks like I'll have some spares. Attaching the male part to the holster took about 30 seconds, it only mounts 1 way. After sitting down with the female adapter and the paddle, I finally figured out the correct holes to use to retain the cant I was accustomed to while placing the release tabs where I wanted them. Once that was done, I moved out to my Jeep and removed the cobbled together mount I was using, that consisted of a modified Uncle Mike's Kydex holster for a Ruger P95, some adhesive GPS mount circles, acrylic block and copious amounts of 2 part epoxy. Mounted the other female half to the dash using a few screws. I think the dash will break off before the mount comes loose.
Impressions I have so far, the mount looks a lot cleaner on my dash. And without the holster there, it just looks like a heavy duty mount for an electronic device, little more stealthy. The adapters together are about 3/4" thick, so it spaces the holster out a bit. Which works great for me, as I'm not a little guy. I practiced presenting from the holster, after 5 minutes it felt natural.
All in all, for me, money well spent. I just wished I didn't have to buy it online, as the locals didn't have it and weren't even aware of it at one local store.

Holster spaced out from the paddle. View from outside without holster in mount. Inside view of empty mount. Inside view with holster and XD.

It looks and sounds like you used screws to attach that mount... was that the way it was designed or are there other options like a adhesive to attach the mount?
I drive with my XD holstered but I'd have a heck of a time justifying putting holes in my dash for a dash mount.

I am very interested in this mount. Thanks for posting pics of it.
I bought a Serpa today for my Glock 23 and plan to begin OC'ng. I've been considering the locations for OC in the car as I don't want it sliding around loose on the dash or seat. Clipping it to a seatbelt is a good idea for now when I'm alone, but this doesn't work when the passenger seat is occupied.
My truck has a center console. I was thinking of mounting this quick disconnect on the side of the center console as so the gun would be mounted barrel pointed down, grip up. Would this be an acceptable location? It would not be "in" the center console. Just mounted to it.
From what I read, this spot might be questionable. So I thought I'd ask if anyone else OC's in their vehicle this way.

I was lookin at the pics above again and it occurred to me that the part that mounts on the dash looks like an ashtray from a distance. Ha!
